Poo dreams

March 22, 2020 by TRM

first ever roommate drank herself into a ‘sleep walking state,’ and long story short – shat in the shared bathroom (it was a college dorm), someone saw her “playing” in it, and she came back to our room with it on her. Best bit? When I woke the RA to come make sure my roommate wasn’t dying, I went to shut the door to lock her in and stay with the RA that night (the stench was horrible) only to touch a door handle full of poo.

Needless to say I didn’t sleep that night and yelled at her first thing in the morning. RA and custodians made her clean it all up…and I moved out shortly after!

Only a hoarder could…

April 4, 2016 by Clinton Keep

When my parents died a few years ago and left me everything I thought I’d do my friend from high school a favor and have him move in with my rent free since he was living in a motel for the past 3 or 4 years. We rented an apartment in the past and I knew he was always kind of a slob (and a hoarder) but I never thought after 10 years he would still have this issue. My first mistake was not putting ANYTHING in writing. I figured as my best friend since 1989 it really wouldn’t need anything like that. Until I first noticed my car was quickly being filled with boxes filled with old phone books and old newspapers. Then the master bedroom started to look a bit cluttered. (Don’t ask me why I gave him the master bedroom rather than the guest room) At the same time he was buying brand new things like storage bins that he never use, instead he just piled more shit on top of the bins until they cracked. This is in the first month. Anytime something would break he would just leave it there and cover it up with more things. The only thing he never covered up was the sex toys and lubes he would leave out. And by lubes I mean Vaseline! But it wasn’t even brand name. Who the fuck uses generic Vaseline as LUBE? Sure we all have our shame toys and everyone wanks, but common sense tells us NOT to leave them out when finished with them. It didn’t stop there… All the people he brought over were all homeless. The shower turned black from mold, the closet doors are broken, there’s piles of dirt on the floor, bags of recycling that never seems to make to the recycling center and the room smells like a locker room. His BF steals my drugs and money. I’ve given him another “warning” to clean up but in actuality I’m going to wait until he has cleaned the room then kick him out for good.
Keep in mind this room was the same room that only a few years ago my parents died in. That room was their final resting place where I took care of them.

Fat and lazy spoiled brat…

March 26, 2013 by burdyburd

Me and my roommate…get…along…in most cases. If I wasn’t her roommate, I’d like her…

I’ve lived with her for about only seven months, and let’s just say, I hate that this is my first college experience.
When I first moved into dorms on the college campus, I was place into community housing because all of the dorm “apartments” (in all simplicity that’s what they were…) were all full…I had another roommate who was a partier…She stayed out all night, came home three in the morning, slamming doors, and turning on all the lights in the room…That’s where I met Danielle, my current roommate…She hadn’t had her roommate come, since by the move in date she decided that she wanted an apartment off campus. I started hanging out with Danielle and liked her. I spent most of my nights in her room and I’d return to mine to sleep. We all got an email that said the housing office still had rooms available and we could meet with them. That is how Danielle and I became roommates…

I went to talk to the housing and they gave us a room, or rather an efficiency, that was only to house one person but they could move to beds into. It doesn’t have rooms, it has a living room, kitchen and bathroom…we use the couch to separate the sides of the room…let’s just say, it was way better than community housing…so I thought…
I never had a problem with her until I learned her ways…she was the baby of the family…spoiled rotten, never did anything for herself…so really I’m the maid, taking out trash, doing dishes constantly, and unclogging the toilet…while she sits around…eating…all the time.

Danielle is a good person, she doesn’t realize she does it…and that’s the problem…I’m too nice to tell her off…I live with her, I don’t want things to get sour…but right now, listening to her snoring, not because she can’t breathe through her nasal passages…because she is so fat she literally is crushing herself…she’s nasty, her feet always stink and she leaves her underwear on the floor, which is the side we keep the TV and everything on…and is also the first thing you see walking into the dorm room…my friends don’t come over because of the smell of her dirty clothes, and because that side is so messy you can’t really hang out…

Tomorrow we have inspection and that is the only time she has cleaned….all last week I cleaned the whole house and today she complained to me because I went to my friend’s house to help her with something. She only complained because I wasn’t there cleaning. I told her I cleaned all day prior…it was her turn. And I was surprised she actually did it. First time ever my side has looked messier than hers…and it’s the boxes I’m putting into my car before the inspection…

She also eats all of my food before I can get a little bit…I may offer you to have some, it doesn’t mean you eat all of it…I got some actual homemade food from my boyfriend…I told her she could have a little bit, guess what she does, take most of everything out…He made it so I could take it home and freeze it…I hadn’t had any of it…and it’s my favorite food he makes…she also takes all my waters, and says she’s buying the next batch, but by the time I’m done waiting for her to, I do it out of desperation…the water here has an advisory, we can’t drink tap even with a filter….which sucks…

If we had separate rooms I wouldn’t have to deal with her…She likes to tell me lies to try and impress me, like, “All my teachers in Highschool loved me so much.” or, “My dad is planning to get me a brand new Nissan Altima. And he’s gonna pay for the insurance too!”

I hear a lot about how her family loves her so much…and I think it’s because two weeks before school I was having drama caused by my mother, who kicked me out…which has depressed me…I have always had mom drama, but what sucks is if I try to talk to her about it, she tells me that my problems aren’t as rough as hers…she’s not working, and she’s getting a free ride through college…I’m having financial problems, and am gonna have to quit school for a year, because of the debt I’m in…I’ve told her and she kinda likes to rub in my face that I, “apparently didn’t try hard enough.” (her words)

She’s rude, lazy and I really can’t wait to have this semester over with…I sometimes feel like she’s my younger sister and I need a break from watching her…and trust me, my 8 year old sister is so much better than her, and I have problems with my sister…
I know there are worse people out there to live with….that I am grateful not to have…but this as a first year experience…has totally ruined my prospective on having a college roommate…

The Habitual Liar, Thief and Bitch

March 26, 2013 by TRM

I swear I attract the worst people to live with, and I have thought maybe it’s me but it’s really not. So this girl is all around a filthy, immature, evil dirty little bitch. She purposely pees everywhere, steals, has her boyfriend come over to steal, and creates a mess just b/c she knows it will piss me off. She really thinks other people are supposed to pick up and clean up after her, and if you ask her to do it she will get mad.

Like how dare I ask you to clean your own mess so I don’t have to live in filth?? First of all I shouldn’t have to ask anyone. Yet she continues to create drama and a mess just so she can walk around with a smirk on her face knowing I’m mad about it. Unfortunately, we live in the dorms so there’s nothing anyone can do really besides kick her out and she refused to show up to any of the meetings in fear she will be kicked out. I just can’t wait to finally get my own space and never speak to this girl again. I’ve known her since grade school and I did feel like it was a bit of a bad idea to live with her, but I was really desperate and in a bad situation. Therefore she was my own option, and I cannot regret that more. She’s one of those people who walk around thinking they’re owed everything in life and do not have to work for anything when they can lie and steal. For all of you that have good roommates, consider yourself blessed or lucky. Not all of us get to have that! 🙂

Couch peeier

January 29, 2013 by TRM

My last roommate constantly had friends crash at our place. I would wake up early to go to work and have to crawl over bodies sleeping on my living room floor. They would usually be up until 5 am partying…which was lovely since I had to work in the morning.

The last straw was when one of her drunk friends crashed on the couch…and was so drunk he peed himself. He then tried to hide the fact by tucking the wet couch cover under and placing one of my blankets on top, which then got my blanket soaked in urine. Did he really think we wouldn’t notice? My couch was ruined and my roommate never gave me a cent to replace it. In fact, she didn’t even want me to say anything to her friend about the incident…cause she didn’t want him to be mad at her for bringing it up. Lovely! That is why I live alone now.

Man, I have so many crazy roommate stories. I could go on and on. I have had some good ones, but the bad ones really made me realize how the extra rent to live alone is so worth it.

Fat Slob

January 28, 2013 by TRM

… since I lived with this person for a little over two years, she managed to rack up quite a few “hell stories.”
Firstly, she was the fattest, laziest, pessimistic slob I’ve ever met in my entire life. in the two and a half years that I knew her, I saw her wash dishes once: on the day we all had to move and she didn’t want to carry boxes downstairs.
She could eat $100 worth of fast food in one week! She dropped out of college and complained about having to work. She complained about back pain, she complained about being tired. She only worked five times a week and slept and watched TV in all of her “free time.”
All of her complaints were falling on the ears of her three roommates with full-time jobs and full-time college schedules. We feel so sorry for you, really.
She yelled at her sister for things that she did wrong, like lock herself out of the car. And to top it all off, she decided she wanted a pet dog… but never wanted to walk her. So she stayed in the kitchen and peed and pooped freely… but before that, the dog peed and pooped all over the carpet. The roommate was pissed that we would make her confine her dog to the linoleum.

When we finally did move out, she made us shampoo her carpet… claiming that the new roommate that replaced us was allergic to the cat.

The stinky, slutty thief

January 4, 2013 by TRM

Throughout high school, I read all these horror stories about bad roommates and wanted to room with someone I knew in College. I had met this one girl through local school events and she seemed nice. We were the same major and had shared many interests and hobbies. (We will call her Shannon). Before college, Shannon and I went shopping together for dorm stuff. I ended up paying for most of everything, plus I continued to buy stuff for our dorm all summer.

When our families moved us in, her mom asked my mom if she needed to buy Shannon anything like toilet paper, ect. We were a little annoyed with the question because they didn’t bring anything like that for us. Anyways, her mom bought a few things and two microwaveable bowls to heat soups and stuff in, one for each of us. I brought my two favorite coffee mugs (not intending for her to use one, but Over the semester, Shannon would make Beefaroni and leave the dirty bowls for weeks. I used one of the bowls once to make cheese dip for BOTH of us. Other than the dip, those bowls grossed me out. When we moved in, we had to sign a “roommate agreement” form. The most important thing we agreed on was to ask before we used each other’s things. She broke this often.

While we were just chilling around the dorm one night, we were talking about our high school life and old friends. She explained how she was a bitch in high school and everyone was afraid of her. She kept going on about how good she felt every time someone called her a bitch. She actually told me this! That’s when I decided that I would do my best to put aside any roommate issues expecting things to be explosive if I ever confronted her. (which things were still explosive towards the end of the semester)

Shannon is a big moocher. Everything of mine was “both of ours” but everything of hers wasn’t anything I could really use. She didn’t bring much of anything both of us could use. During our first week on campus, she ate an entire bag of my goldfish. Normally this wouldn’t be such a big deal, but she brought a jumbo box of goldfish for “both of us” that she kept locked up in her closet. She did things like this on more than one occasion. She always claimed she didn’t eat deserts. I guess an entire pack of fudge cookies doesn’t count as a desert.. I often found a few of my drinks missing from the fridge. Besides food, she used my qtips. I walked in the room a few times to find piles of them on her desk.

In the beginning, her family gave us some cases of water (as did mine). However, her mom also gave her three empty gallon jugs for water because they were not going to continue supplying us with water bottles. My parents kept giving us bottles, which were mostly consumed by Shannon. Every time she was in the room or leaving, she would grab a bottle. (this will be brought up later)

While we were still settling in, she complained about my brown paper bag full of extra toiletries under the bathroom sink. While I was doing laundry one day, she took the liberty of “putting away” the contents of the bag even though I had nowhere to put them. Everything ended up on the floor where the bag was. She always complained that my room was messy. I did often have stuff piled up in a corner between my bed and closet, but you couldn’t really see it from the rest of the room. Meanwhile, Shannon always had a pile of clothes and hangers in the middle of the room. My boyfriend would always comment on her underwear and everything being in the middle of the room. Her clothes stunk too because she only showered about twice a week.

Shannon was also an avid pot smoker. I had smoked once before college and no intention of smoking in college. I am planning on being a teacher and I knew drugs could ruin me. However, Shannon got me to smoke with her. Before we started dating, I had a crush on my boyfriend; when things started to look promising, I quit smoking. She saw how successful I was at quitting, and attempted to quit a few times. We obviously had some issues we needed to talk about. Almost every time I tried to talk to her she was higher than a kite. Thus, we didn’t have the chance to talk about “us” This is about the time I realized she was not a good influence on me. She got me to smoke, I got her to quit.

Once I started dating my boyfriend, she got angry with me often over nothing and claimed it was because she was “coping with not having a boyfriend”.

Shannon is kind of a whore. I don’t know how many times she complained to me how everyone calls her a slut/whore. Yet, she would still go to parties and sleep with random guys. One time, she brought back a guy to the room, sat on her bed, and they both waited for me to fall asleep. I knew what was going on, so I pretended that I could not sleep and he eventually left. I don’t even remember his name.

Shannon doesn’t get along with anybody. Our friends across the hall can’t stand her (we’ll call them Hannah and Heather). The four of us used to be friends, but things changed when she caused problems in Hannah’s relationship with her boyfriend. Long story short: Shannon kept telling the boyfriend things that weren’t true about Hannah. He eventually broke up with her. When Shannon found out they broke up, she confided in me that Hannah did nothing wrong and it was all her fault. She then went on about how “good it felt to have a victim” and how she wished we could all be friends again. Of course Hannah had no interest in fixing their friendship. Heather was pretty disgusted with the whole situation, but she lost interest in Shannon’s “friendship” when Shannon told her that she needed space and was trying to find new friends. We were all confused at what she meant, but Shannon was even more confused when Heather actually gave her space. Shannon kept complaining that she had no friends and that she didn’t know what she would do without me. I felt a little bad and put my feelings aside for her. My boyfriend and Heather’s boyfriend can’t stand Shannon either. They even complain and joke about her! I find this funny, because guys usually stay clear of “girl drama”.

People outside of our “group” aren’t fond of her either. Not many people talked about her to me because I lived with her, but everyone else only had bad things to say about her. The few friends she had she would treat like crap. Not only would she say horrible things behind their backs, she would say mean things to them in person! (She told me she was hoping they would get the message that they were annoying her).

Shannon wasn’t only rude to friends and fellow students, she was rude to both of our parents. She would call her parents with me in the room and badger them. She put them on speaker so they “couldn’t argue back with her”. Instead they just hung up. One time while my parents were dropping off some stuff for us, Shannon was being rude to all three of us. My mom said “Well it looks like you want us to leave” and left. While they were walking down the hall, they could still hear Shannon complaining to me. My mom said something I’d love to mention: She mentioned that Shannon seemed sweet when she first met her, but it’s like she is two people now that she has gotten to know her.

In the words of my boyfriend: “Shannon is a thief”. One day while we were in our room, She handed us a handful of headphone jacks she has collected from the piano lab and told us we could pick one. Among the pile, Caleb found his jack that had gone missing. (Were music majors, and one of our classrooms is full of pianos. We need jacks to plug in our headphones. Shannon would go to class early and take any jacks that were there).

One day a sweet girl in our hall was missing her keys. She emptied her purse in front of her door looking for them, but left to find an RA that could let her back in her room. There was a $20 bill in the pile, and while Shannon and I were on our way to do laundry, Shannon took the $20 and gleefully laughed about it the rest of the day. Shannon also had a ton of jewelry that she claimed she stole from a store called Claire’s. She let me borrow earrings one time and said “if you don’t give them back to me, I’ll just steal another pair”.

— This is not even half of the “horror stories” but this is already pretty long so I’m going to round this up. —

Back to the water bottles: I asked her not to drink so many bottles because our supply was very low and she wasn’t contributing any bottles at all. She tried to say she didn’t drink many and I just kind of dropped it. (I had already made my point so she at least knew she needed to stop drinking so many). That night, she lay in bed next to me and started posting nasty things about me on twitter. She knew I could see her tweets, and I did. Now I’m not one to get into “internet drama”, but verbal communication wasn’t getting through to her; so I tweeted “I’m sick of people mooching off me and my family”and went to sleep. We talked the next day and we both decided that we couldn’t live together.

I am so happy to be rid of her!

fk my life

December 13, 2012 by TRM

I am a college freshman and i didnt get pair up with the roomate i chose, so i was assigned to a random guy. The guy is asian, which give me a relief since i thought that asian should have any bad habit, they are usually clean and nice.I am asian myself ,so i know its much better than ending up with a pothead.
As it turn out, he do not do drugs and does not party. He also does not have a normal sleeping habit. He take 8naps a day, and set up 16 alarms to wake him up. This is what make me hate him, he should fking know that others have to fking sleep too, his fking alarm wakes me up 3-6 times every night. He is also a heavy sleeper which make it difficult for the alarm to wake him up, so i have to listen to each alarm to go on for at least 3 min. He also snoree really loud, like really loud, i max the volume on my laptop and can still hear his snore.
Beside from bad sleeping habit, he is also really dirty, he wear the same sweater and sweat pant for the 3months i’ve been living with him. He also shower faster than i brush my teeth, for the past 3 months i’ve only seen him taking shower once. How i know he dont shower? I know because his soap bar is still the same size as 3 months ago,and that is the product he use.
When i first move in ,in late august when it was still hot, the room temperature is always hotter than outside, because all the heat he release. The room always smells like shit. The guy dont shower, and has really strong body ordor, plus the only window is next to his bed ,which he never open .
He also stacks up his trash, he only clear them out once at the end of the week.He bought all the food back to the room and eat them. So, at the end of the week there would be like 30 smelly food containers on his table.

Living hell.

November 28, 2012 by TRM

Well I’ve been reading all these terrible experiences people have had to try and help me relax about my own but now i find myself envying some of you for having it so easy.

I moved out to Alberta to start establishing myself with a few friends who claimed to have the same idea. My friends at the time were so broke that they couldn’t afford food, gas or rent so I covered it so I could be in a good atmosphere for my first move. Since i moved i have discovered that they are both spoiled, lazy, filthy stoners to say the least. Now where to begin..

Every single day I come back from 13 hour shifts to find that the house looks like a hurricane hit it. I cleaned it up again and again because I hate living in a house that looks like this. Do I get a thanks? No.. All they say is “you shouldn’t have cleaned it man I was going to.” Well cheers to you buddy!
Anyways I tried suppressing my aggression and testing my patience by leaving the mess, but no it doesn’t get cleaned just gets filthier. Worse yet, nobody but I has taken out the garbage to the dumpster (30 feet from front door) and garbage has been piled to the point that you can’t tell that there’s even a bin there. After a week I couldn’t handle it and got the same response when I cleaned it; “now (other roommate) won’t learn to clean up.” They’re not dogs, it should be out of respect that you do so.
Also i come home to my Xbox, tv and all the lights left on, on in a daily basis. This is always accompanied by beer bottles, cigarette butts, dirty dishes and bongs all over the floor. I ask them to be more respectful but both say that they always clean up. It shocks me how they expect me to believe this total bs.
Next! Landlord clearly states no Pets but one of my roomies adopts the most disobedient and energetic dog. The first I hear of this is when I walk in the door after work. But he’s too lazy to take it out for walks so it just shits And pisses in the basement all the time. So downstairs is a total minefield if dog shit and its been weeks and he hasn’t cleaned one turd up yet.
I bought brand new batteries and razors. A 60 dollar expense and I get home to find half a pack missing from each item. On top of that I found my one of a kind Oakley crowbars face down on the floor. I then found out he filled the cloth bag with rice to dry his iPhone out that he dropped in the toilet!!

They’re too lazy to buy food so they just get pizza delivered all the time. I open the fridge one day to find half my groceries I bought not 12 hours previous is half gone. To top that off there’s a note on the fridge saying “blah blah don’t eat my food, buy it with your own money blah blah” I’m the only one who has any money or food in the fridge. There’s certainly nice amount of booze in there though.
Whenever I ask one of them about why my stuff is taken out of my room and laying around the floor they both just blame it on each other.
I sleep all day because I work all night and quite often one of them will come in, wake me up and complain about issues that have nothing to do with me.

I have probably left so much out but whenever I try to address these issues I get yelled at. When I don’t accept that response I get throttled and threatened physically.

I’m probably leaving so much out but there’s only so much I can unload upon you.

Anyone In Calgary looking for a room mate?

We were best friends

November 15, 2012 by TRM

I was working with my best friend from high school and she so desperately wanted to move out of her parents house and I was already living on my own. We agreed to move in together and found a very nice 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom that was only a mile from our office. The day that we were moving in, she told me that she was pregnant. Not to worry I told her. She and her boyfriend can live here and we’ll worry about whether I stay or move out when the baby comes. Her boyfriend was a wannabe drug dealer, but mostly just a drug user. He brought his friends over to our place to get high all the time and on several occasions I would come home and the house would be trashed. They would also use my bathroom, which was in the hall, even though I told him several times that if his friends come over, they should use the master bathroom which is in his room. On New Year’s Eve 1998, I was spending the night out with my boyfriend. I came to my apartment briefly to pick up a few things and when I arrived the lights were out and they had strobe lights going. There was about 10 people in the living room laying on the floor completely cracked out of their minds. When I go in my room, it was trashed. Apparently, my roommates boyfriend thought I had food and drugs in my room and went on a rampage looking for it. In my bathroom, someone had done a little too much of whatever drug they were doing and got the aftermath raging throwing up. So there was spew all over my bathtub, toilet, in the sink and even on the walls.

My best friend and I never made it to the full 1 year. I found a replacement and moved out. We also aren’t friends anymore but this wasn’t the main cause of our break-up.
